A beautiful hot Spanish summer day at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Marquez with a perfect launch got the lead from his brother Alex into turn 1 with Acosta close behind
Bagnaia from 21st was up 9 places on first lap
Bezzecchi then crashed from P11 while trying to overtake his VR46 Academy friend Morbidelli
DiGiantonio also crashed as a result of Bez while trying to avoid contact with Pecco infront and the Aprillia bike
Acosta sitting comfortably in 3rd , Quartararo leading the following pack in 4th, Bastianini looking fast but stuck in 5th, Marini leading the Honda charge in 6th and Zarco showing some form in 7th
Lap 3 Bastianini gets past Quartararo for 4th and is currently the fastest on track
Ducati 1 & 2 with KTM 3 & 4
A tight battle between the front 4 and the next 3, Bagnaia and Binder the fastest on track but sitting down in 9th and 10th
Binder obviously pushing a little too hard then crashes out on lap 7 into turn 6
Bastianini getting impatient behind Acosta that he quickly caught up to, nearly takes Acosta out into turn 1 with some wild late braking from both KTM riders
Bagnaia into 8th and looking good in full race trim, like old days
Zarco just getting through on Quartararo after the French pair go through the first few turns side by side
Marini also gets past Quartararo into turn 1 on lap 10 for a showing of the progress Honda is making
Nothing seperating Acosta and Bastianini, but Bastianini finally finds a way through on lap 11 with insanely late braking into turn 1
Johan Zarco carshes into turn 10 and blows a potential top 5 finish
Bagnaia then inherits 7th
Bastianini still fastest on track and charging towards the Marquez brothers
Acosta, the only rider on the soft rear tyre which is really starting to fade on lap 15/24
Alex Rins loses the front into turn 10 for one of his first crashes of the season
Top 3 riders are in a class of their own!
Acosta fading 3 seconds behind Bastianini on lap 17, soft tyre was a big ask on this hot and tyre punishing circuit
Lap 19 gap between Marc and Enea is over 2 seconds, “The tyre Whisperer” appears to have burnt too much rubber to get past Acosta
Marc and Alex now 1 second per lap faster than anyone else on track (lap 20)
Alex appears to be making a charge, Marc trying to keep up runs wide and drops back to 0.600 behind Alex
Lorenzo Savadori with an already horrible weekend now crashes on lap 21/24
Morbidelli also down with 3 laps to go into turn 10, again (an aweful weekend for Morbidelli after finally signing another contract for next year)
Bagnaia nealry bins it into turn 1 with the bike kicking out to his side while braking into turn 1 with Agura right on his tail adding pressure
Alex now leading by 1 second with 2 laps to go
Agura launching past Bagnaia into turn 1
Quartararo gets past Marini into turn 5 for 5th and Yamaha over Honda bragging rights
Agura also getting past Marini a few turns later, late pace for the Rookie
Alex getting the win in front of his home crowd and bouncing back after a disastrous Sprint yesterday seems deserved as the fastest rider all weekend
Marc in second and gaining another 20 pts
Batianini finishes in 3rd for his first podium on a Sunday in KTM colours
Acosta wills his destroyed soft rear tyre home for some valuable points in 4th
Conveniently, Marc will not be able to claim his 7th Premier Class World Title in front of the Italian crowd next week, almost the ideal scenario for him (he’s very likely to get the job done in the Sprint at Japan’s Motegi in the following race)
Agura is the top Aprillia in a solid 6th
Bagniaia did also get a late overtake on Marini on the last lap to finish 7th from 21, super recovery from the Champion
Marini the first Honda in 8th
The 2 Marquez brothers enjoyed celebrating together in front of their massive grandstand of fans
